So I'm working on a new project...a web based forum application. I'd like some people to play with it and give feedback.

play around, try to find bugs, let me know what features are missing that people would like to see, etc. if you break it, let me know how so i can fix the problem. pretty sweet weekend so far. went to south side grille for 80s night on friday, wore sunglasses at night, and discovered i am apparently incredibly dreamy to every woman with kids. fortunately i did not say unattractive women with kids.
yesterday went to see dave duses band over in moonachie. damn good show. made a pun that was actually funny, unlike my bible reference. the source of that pun was one song that made my jaw drop in awe. thank you. really, thank you, jaded faith.
tomorrow i get to go to the chiropractor and see my back xrays. i'm imaginging it'll be something like cloud watching, where i look at each angle and say what i think it looks like...'the letter S', 'a coiled snake', 'broken chain', etc. tuesday i think erin's coming down and we will grab dinner and have fun. wednesday is my first day of court...itll be weird to be on the prosecution for once.

trey's diagnostic checklist:
1. replace obvious problem of messed up wire: done.
2. why wasn't that it: because its probably been messed up for a long time and never affected anything.
3. clean up ignition system with 6-56 to ensure good connections, throw in new plugs: done.
4. check which cylinder is actually missing, because you were dumb and assumed it was the one with a visible problem: 3.
5. check for spark on cylinder 3 wire: good.
6. check for spark on cylinder 3 plug: good.
7. with plug out, check for fuel delivery to cylinder 3: not so good :(
8. check compression on cylinder 3 (eep please dont be this): thank god, compressions great.
8. check for voltage to injector 3: ______
9. check wires from rail: ______
11. if i can't figure this out by wednesday night, take the car to a shop cause i need those 50 horses back :(

so, tonight i went to give rich a ride to pick up his old car he left at the dealer as he just bought a new little honda. so I get him, swing by tops diner for fried snacks and coffee, and go to leave...start the car pull out, low idle and shaky. how strange...either rich mixture or a misfire. so i cut it, start again, same deal...misfire.
hm. i just swapped out the whole ignition system what, 10k miles ago? that's strange. one cylinder too, so unless its an injector, fuel delivery is fine...so i go to see what happens if i cut out a cylinder on it. pull cyl 1, stalls. makes sense. pull cyl 4 next, and i pull out a melted plug wire. now seriously? i drive hard, but there is no reason for that to happen.
so, i just drove home on the 3 cylinders, goddamn left foot breaking and low gears on the highway! but I made it just fine. rich graciously offered to drive me to work tomorrow so I don't have to limp there.
I shall go to autozone, and just shell out the 90 bucks for a good set of 8mm wires this time. maybe some 4x irid plugs, even though mine are fine, might as well replace them too with something nicer. but this generic brand crap needs to stop being in my pretty motor. I should be able to jump to 2-3k rpm off the starter without any electrical issues. and i should be able to go smoothly from 0-130, not limp around at 55mph feeling the engine cry 10w30 tears.
I hope they also sell 8mm wire brackets, or i shall have to do some pocket knife fu.

visiting connecticut is weird.
its like new jersey, but walking to places is usually like 10-15 mins instead of 5, theres more trees, and everything is really cheap except gas, which is very expensive.
it does, however, have the best mexican restaurant on earth. better than mexico. i cant wait to eat tonight. |

so im back from my fishing trip
first day (sat), went out and met my dad in sayville...we took one car over to the boat in patchogue to save on parking. hopped on the ferry, and as soon as we got off, garrett was waiting on the other boat to take us clamming. this is our fishin boat:
we caught a whole bunch of little necks, brought them back, met rett and rich coming off a later boat, and went to the firehouse to hang out and make linguini & clam sauce with our fresh clams.
the food was amazing...so was the sunset off the tower on the boat:
then i proceeded to get right and properly drunk and wander around the boardwalks. i also got to throw a chair off a 30 foot high deck onto the beach. was very satisfying.
got up somehow at 6ish the next morning and walked down to the boat...we cruised out to the inlet in a thick soupy fog, towing the skiff...all morning it was too thick to navigate much so we stayed in the bay most of the day. caught a sea robin (not delicious), two short fluke (delicious but shorts are illegal), and about 20 bergalls (sharp finned mean little bastards also not delicious). we couldn't find the bass this time though. then we decided to go clamming again...this time for the big surf clams. we found a spot where we just couldnt take a step in the water without finding one. pulled up over two bushels. here's the catch after the ones we took out to use for bait later and whatnot:
so we sailed back to port with that, and two decent sized triggerfish the other guys caught. when we pulled in, everybody in the marina was amazed at how big our clams were. haha. not to mention some surf clams are, yes it's a real animal, "bearded clams." the jokes go on.
we then went down to the firehouse, showered there, and sat down to gorge ourselves on the fish we caught, more clam sauce, baked mussels and chicken wings.
went back to the house on the ocean happy as a clam...well perhaps not, the clams we were eating were very unhappy about it and i felt quite good. sat around with rett for a bit on the deck (ocean at night is beautiful, and the moon made it better), and then...a disco ball rolled down the beach.
well, really, it was a group of drunks with flashlights, but they were just spinning around and up and down shining them everywhere, and there were a bunch of them. so it looked like a giant disco ball was rolling down the beach toward us, and then they passed and it was a stumbling drunk disco ball. one fell down. it was amusing.
then this morning we got up at 6ish and went to the marina again to try our luck at the inlet once more. it was just as foggy as before if not moreso...a bad sign for the day but i must say when we came up on the smith point bridge (we had to go under it), appearing out of the fog it was incredible. tough to catch on film but i tried:
then we got there, drifted the inlet on the tides a few times for fluke...caught 2 more but they were shorts. tried for bass again but no luck at all, i think they're gone for the season early this year. maybe that hurricane? not much luck with triggerfish either. we did find a nice big mussel bed, but decided to come back for it another day.
we did keep trying to head out into the ocean, but the fog was thickest there and it was very rough. we've got a big sturdy boat that can take it, but when you can't see the breakers coming until they're on you, we'd risk getting broadsided by a 9-10 foot wave and tossed around like a tin can. so we were smart, used the good old logic of 'dont fuck with the ocean, she will snap her fingers and you will die,' and went back in.
the bay was pretty on the ride back:
spent most of the ride cleaning up and shucking the big clams...got back, sat around at the firehouse for a bit longer, then we all headed back to the mainland...
got to stop by my aunt and uncle's restaurant and have dinner, but couldn't stay long. took off from there, made it home in record time, and that's that.

so. went camping on lake george this past weekend.
cronies involved: val, ange, jahz, and anges friends ethan and deer. amish didnt come :(
the adirondaks are beautiful. the water was perfect. i went skinnydipping at night. drank a lot, ate a hundred hot dogs, played with fire, stargazed, wandered the woods...even found a boat (well, a charred log that was shaped boat-ish and i rode around on).
we also went over to lake placid, mostly just for the drive through the mountains. had some really good food there though. |
